Established in the year 1903 as a Guru Talim Institute (GT) during pre independence period ,in the western most part of undivided Sambalpur district , under the jurisdiction of the then Madhyapradesh state, DIET Bargarh has gone through different phases of evolution and transformation in the name of Elementary Training School(ET) in the year 1936, Basic Training School(BT) in the year 1948 and Secondary Training School (STS) in the year 1969. Subsequently, in the process of its long journey ST school was upgraded to District Institute of Education and Training (DIET)in the year 2005 vide Govt. Notification no.10701SME Date.25/05/2005. Eventually, the Institute was shifted from the Bargarh town to Patharla situated at a distance of about 10KM from the district headquarter towards Raipur road in NH-6. The new DIET building was inaugurated in the year 2009.

It gives me great pleasure to be the Head of DIET Bargarh, one of the pioneer institution in the field of Teacher Education coming under Department of School and Mass Education , Govt. of Odisha and regulated by Directorate of TE and SCERT , Odisha, Bhubaneswar. We are determined to provide quality education to our student teachers through the technology based educational facilities so that they can be empowered holistically and shaping them into a good citizen of modern India as well as a good human being. We follow high standard of teaching and learning which is not confined to only the classrooms but for the professional growth of them we regularly organize seminars, workshops, training programme, guest lectures and online conference. We endeavor to offer such educational programme to them which is reflecting , innovative and practice based so that they can make an active contribution for our country. I wish all the best from my core of heart to all those who contributes to the noble task of spreading education and preparing the student teachers for the glorious responsibilities of life.
